Thanks for visiting... Edgewood Kennels "Indeed it is a rustic dog but not devoid of passion. The Griffon has never been and will never be a dog for field trials. Easy to train and suitable for a hunter who does not wish to have a dog that is too touchy. It is an excellent retriever and usually hunts at a trot and is able to alternate this pace with a feline and dynamic gallop."
The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is Dutch in origin, but is regarded as a French breed because a major portion of the breed's later development took place in France. Because of the Griffons dual coat it is particularly well adapted for wet and heavily brushed or treed country, where its harsh coat is excellent protection. The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is an excellent swimmer and retriever and it loves to play in the water.
Griffons are known as intelligent, extremely eager to please, friendly dogs. They are also known as : Griffon d'arrêt à poil dur Korthals and Korthals Griffon . Considered by many to be the Gentleman's hunting dog, it hunts at a relatively slow speed as compared to the other versatile breeds. Known for being methodical in its search, leaving no bush unchecked.
